What’s the normal Weight and Height for our children?
Many parents are concerned about the normal weight and height of their children. They compare them with the other children of the same age to make sure that they are growing normally.
There are some guidelines which you can refer to for making sure that your child falls within the average range of growth. Below are the values between the 25th to the 75th percentile for weight and height, which means that half of the children have their weight and height falling with in those ranges and only one quarter of children have their weight and height falling below them and the other quarter is falling above them. However, the normal range of the child growth falls within the 5th percentile to the 95th percentile.
When you take your child to a doctor for regular visits, they will weigh the child and measure their height to be able to tell you which percentile the child falls in. If you are worried about your child being under or over weight, always consult your doctor.
